In September 1873 Vincent van Gogh wrote his first letter from Hackford road. 100 years later, in 1973 a blue plaque was put up. 

 

Van Gogh House is a non-profit contemporary arts organisation based in the South London boarding house where a young Vincent van Gogh lived. The house is a site of creative production and hosts a programme of exhibitions, residencies and events.

From January – August 2024, you can visit by booking onto one of our monthly tours ⟶

 

12th September – 22nd December 2024, during our exhibition period, the house will also open for self-guided visits. Wednesday – Sunday, 12-6pm.
