About the Collection

The collection at 87 Hackford Road encompasses historic artefacts, contemporary artwork, and texts. We are currently working to make a selection of our archive, artworks, and writing accessible online.

The Archive consists of documents and objects either found in or related to the house’s history – from 19th century handwriting samples to photographs of the 1973 blue plaque ceremony. Students from the Camberwell School of Art conservation course carefully cleaned and restored many of the artefacts discovered during the renovation, and our archival work will resume this fall.

Our evolving art collection primarily includes pieces by previous residents, architectural signatures by our building team, and bespoke fittings and furniture.

Our library is a growing resource of books centered around  Hackford Road, Victorian London, and Van Gogh’s time in Stockwell. We will publish a reading list of our favourites soon.
